This is certainly a very green piece. I'm not sure you made the best choice using such a shallow d.o.f., I think you could've shown the pattern over the whole image. It's a great start though. I apologise for sounding patronising.
I actually took versions with bigger dof but I liked this one best. I guess I'm going through a shallow dof phase But thanks for sharing your opinion about it, I appreciate that you wrote what you thought

Yeah, I've had an obsession with the mundane, but until I can afford, beg, steal or borrow a macro lense that's not really going to go anywhere. I like your idea though!
